Recently, I made a post on Instagram about struggling with not feeling good enough about my God given gifts & talents. I received a lot of messages from other women saying they struggled with the exact same thing. This really got me thinking about why we as women don’t feel good enough in this aspect of our lives… & then I thought hey, let me make a blog post about it!
What I know to be absolutely true, is that the gifts & talents God has given us should be used to better his kingdom. I believe that our gifts & our talents are usually different. However, I think they come together to make the beautiful combination of who we are. For example, I believe that my gift from God is the empathy that I have for other people. & my talent is my creative mind, particularly fashion design. My empathy & my creativeness complement each other. When I use both of them in tandem, they allow me to further the kingdom of God. However, this is much easier said than done.
In my own life, I have found my empathy has been lacking due to being hurt & mistreated by others in the past. Due to this, I have been more focused on myself lately & I have not been as interested in extending myself to others. Additionally, I feel less about my creative talent because I see other followers of Christ having talents that I see as much “better” than mine. In my eyes, their talent is much more obvious in the way it glorifies God (major eye roll at myself)!
God gave me my gifts & talents & who am I to question his authority!?
God wants me to not be ruled by my fear. He wants me to be unapologetically myself & combine my gift & talent to better his kingdom. Dimming my light & what I have to offer is not doing myself or anyone else any favors. Like I said, this is easier said than done. The following bible verses have been very helpful for me regarding feeling confident in my God given gifts & talents.
Bible Verses
“There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them & in everyone it is the same God at work”.
-1 Corinthians 12:5-6
God literally tells us that there is an abundance of ways to serve him & an abundance of ways to do his work. Never let your talent or gift make you feel less than because they are all equal in God’s eyes!
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.
-Ephesians 2:10
God created us exactly how he wanted us to be. He knows who we were before we even existed… How crazy is that!? How can we question our gifts & talents when God gave them to us for a reason? The reason being furthering his kingdom exactly where & how he wants us to.
Challenge yourself to spend some time thinking about what you think your one big gift & your one big talent are. Are you letting your fear, hurt, self-confidence, or anything else get in the way of using them to the best of your ability? We as women are POWERFUL, FABULOUS, & SO AWESOME! We are all uniquely us & a light in this world unlike anyone else!
